OF HIMSELF

My work exists within forums. The forum of a stage, the line of the horizon, and the forum of a room. The things which take place within these spaces are often strange and absurd, based on personal mythology. I have often wanted to re-create the everyday events of my life, as something surreal and other worldly. The act of getting dressed, a banal occurrence, through the act of painting becomes infinitely more significant and loaded.

It is often myself that occupies these forums, I become a motif, a standard, a frame for all other elements to cling to. I often dissolve the self fragment my face till it becomes meaningless, so it could be anyone else's face, myself as the viewer.

Born May 1981 in Worcester, England, the artist is currently working in Madrid, Spain.

  • 2000-2003  BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts under the tutelage of R.O Lenkiewicz. Falmouth, Cornwall – UK Graduated with First Class Honours
  • 2007-2008 MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London - UK
